In 2011, Tiffany Shlain, filmmaker and founder of The Webby Awards and her team at The Moxie Institute Film Studio + Lab (which includes UCBerkeley Professor Ken Goldberg and filmmakers Sawyer Steele and Jesse Wakeman) created a new way of making films they call #CloudFilmmaking, where they make films collaboratively with people around the world through the cloud of the internet and then once the films are complete, they offer them for free with customized endings fit to help nonprofits around the world spread the important message of their work. Since the project’s launch 3 years ago they have made over 500 free customized films for nonprofits around the world in 70 languages. Tiffany and her team’s work and films have received over 60 awards and distinctions including “The Disruptive Innovation” Award from The Tribeca Film Festival. Four of Tiffany’s films premiered at Sundance Film Festival including her feature documentary “Connected” and have been selected by The US State Department’s America Film Showcase to show around the world representing America. Her films have been viewed over 21 million times. The Science of Character is the 4th film in the Let it Ripple: Mobile films for Global Change film series. Find out more at www.letitripple.org
There have been 3 Let it Ripple films released so far (soon to be 4!). If you are part of a nonprofit organization, we’d love to make a free customized version of any of them for your outreach.
